The work has changed; but the way I think about it hasn’t.

I started out in the trades, doing residential construction from foundation to finish. That experience shaped how I see business: planning matters, details matter, and the work speaks for itself.

Later, I moved into manufacturing for the construction industry, managing teams and operations. That’s where I first connected with a marketing agency, and it changed how I looked at growth. Working alongside their team helped me understand how sales and marketing need to work together, and how having a clear action plan turns goals into results.

When my wife and I opened our own small business in Winnipeg, I returned to that same agency for guidance and soon after joined their team. Today, I still work with that agency, helping manage full-scale SEO, Google Ads, and social campaigns.

Over time, I saw a gap: many small businesses simply aren’t ready for a full marketing retainer. They need structure, clarity, and a cost-effective way to start building momentum.

That’s why I launched Matt Toews Digital: a passion project built to help small business owners lay their foundation. It’s not a replacement for an agency; it’s the bridge that gets you ready for one.
